Assistant Merchandiser
The Assistant Merchandiser supports store sales and merchandising strategies by ensuring products are properly stocked, accurately priced, and visually presented to MILAM’S MARKETS high standards across multiple store locations. This field-based role requires travel between different MILAM’S MARKETS locations and reporting to different stores based on daily and weekly assignments. The position focuses on inventory management, promotional execution, and visual presentation to create an engaging shopping experience and maximize profitability. The Merchandiser works closely with store leadership, vendors, and internal teams across multiple locations.
This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule, including varied hours, weekends and Holidays, based on business needs.
Key Responsibilities
Stock and restock shelves to ensure correct product assortment and quantities
Display, arrange, price, rotate, and maintain merchandise according to company standards
Set new items and promotional displays following provided merchandising instructions
Install and maintain promotional signage and new item displays
Remove expired, damaged, or outdated products to maintain quality standards
Monitor inventory levels and support optimal stock replenishment
Work closely with store directors, department managers, vendors, and internal teams across multiple locations
Support pricing accuracy and assist with pricing strategies to improve margins
Analyze basic sales trends, customer feedback, and product performance
Assess the effectiveness of displays, promotions, and store layouts
Support training of store staff on proper product displays and stock rotation
Research competitor pricing, promotions, and merchandising practices
Skills and Qualifications

Product knowledge with a focus on quality and accuracy
Ability to support merchandising strategies and adjust based on sales trends
Industry- and product-specific knowledge, or the ability to learn quickly
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently in a field-based environment and collaboratively with store teams
Ability to travel to and report to different store locations based on daily or weekly assignments
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to review sales or inventory reports, use email, and complete routine documentation
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds
Ability to climb ladders and safely reach overhead
Ability to work in varying temperatures, including refrigerated and freezer environments
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Prior experience in retail or merchandising preferred
