They are experts of operations, process and efficiency. The role of a Cake Decorator can provide you with the skills and experiences of:Guest service fundamentals and experience building a guest-first culture in foodBuilding guest relationships and converting interactions into sales through sampling, special orders and creating unique designsBuilding in cake and dessert trends, including seasonality, guest preference, and flavorMonitoring sales of products and adjusting production to drive efficiency, profitability and minimize wasteCake decorating fundamentalsAs a Cake Decorator, no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will most likely include the following responsibilities:Create an easy, inspiring and friendly guest experience by delivering on the following commitments:Greet: 10ft: be friendly smile, make eye contact, or wave; 4ft: greet the guest, smile and initiate a warm, helpful interactionHelp guests find what they need and/or resolve issues to ensure a smooth, easy shopping experienceEnd every guest transaction with a sincere thank youActively support team efforts and assist peers in other areas while maintaining a positive and respectful attitudeAdjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy and inspiring guest experienceDeliver an exceptional guest experience, providing a fresh and abundant shopping experience during all hours of operations, prioritizing the guest's needs over taskExecute Food & Beverage processes, including food deliveries, replenishment, straightening merchandise, instocks routines, data accuracy, culling, rotation, cleaning, signing and organizing and storing reserve productEngage with guests to capture and fulfill their customized cake orderUphold and maintain the execution of the Food & Beverage StandardsProduce, package and label items to specifications on production cards and follow specific department routines to drive sales, instocks and profitabilityPrep, ice and decorate cakes and cupcakes to place on the salesfloor that are seasonally relevant and follow production card specificationsFollow all food safety requirements, including monitoring and recording temperature of sensitive food items, as outlined in Target's policies and proceduresLocate and identify damaged, recalled or expired items and process according to Target's policies and proceduresUse sampling and suggestive selling to promote products and increase salesFollow proper perishable inventory procedures to ensure an accurate recording of inventoryAppropriately use and care for in-store and personal protective equipment; follow equipment control guidelinesAlways demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and complianceWork in a safe manner at all times; comply with all safety policies, best practices, and training; report hazards and correct where possibleSupport guest services such as back-up cashier, order pick up (OPU) and Drive-up (DU) and maintain a compliance culture while executing those duties, such as compliance with federal, state, and local lawsAll other duties based on business needsThis may be the right job for you if:You enjoy interacting and helping others including guests that shop our store and fellow team members you work withYou thrive in a fast-moving, highly active and physically demanding role, where teamwork, flexibility, and creative problem solving are key to successYou are open to working a flexible work schedule with varying hours, days or shifts (including nights, weekends, holidays and other peak shopping times)The good news is that we have some amazing training that will help teach you everything you need to know to be a Cake Decorator. But, there are a few skills you should have from the get-go:Must be at least 18 years of age or olderPrevious cake decorating experience preferred, but not requiredArtistic skills to design and execute customized dessertsWelcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team membersAbility to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directedWork both independently and with a teamResolve guest questions quickly on the spotCapability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframesWe are an awesome place to work and care about our teams, so we want to make sure we are clear on a few more basics that we expect:Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issuesInterpret instructions, reports and informationAccurately handle cash register operations as neededClimb up and down ladders if neededScan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds without additional assistance from othersFlexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends and holidays); come to work when scheduled, work scheduled shifts and take required meal and rest breaksAbility to work in environments that will include refrigeration and freezer temperatures and conditions; where common allergens may also be handled or presentCapable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing certain job duties, including but not limited to Drive-Ups, carryout, etc.Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shifts (shift length may vary)
