Tube Laser Operator
Tube Laser OperatorWe are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Experienced Tube Laser Operator to join our fabrication team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, programming, operating, and maintaining CNC tube laser cutting machines (e.g., Mazak, BLM, Trumpf, Bystronic experience a plus) to produce high-precision metal components from engineering drawings. The operator will optimize production efficiency, ensure high-quality output, and perform routine maintenance.Key Responsibilities:Setup & Operation: Set up tooling, fixtures, and adjust machine parameters (power, speed, focus) to process round, square, rectangular, and shaped metal tubing efficiently.Programming & Nesting: Load and, if necessary, adjust programs using CAD/CAM software to ensure maximum material utilization.Quality Inspection: Conduct first-piece and in-process inspections using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and protractors to verify tolerances and dimensions.Machine Maintenance: Perform preventative maintenance on the laser, including cleaning lenses, checking assist gas levels, and cleaning the cutting head.Troubleshooting: Independently troubleshoot minor program errors, material issues, and machine alignment problems to minimize downtime.Material Handling: Safely load/unload raw materials and finished parts using overhead cranes or forklifts.Documentation: Accurately log production time, quantities, and scrap data in the company ERP system.Required Qualifications:Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of experience operating CNC Tube Fiber Laser cutting machines.Technical Skills: Strong ability to read and interpret blue prints, technical drawings, and GD&T.Equipment Proficiency: Proven experience with top-brand lasers (e.g., BLM LT8, Trumpf TruLaser Tube).Materials Knowledge: Familiarity with processing steel, stainless steel, and aluminum tubing.Physical Strength: Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs regularly.Education: High school diploma or GED; technical training in manufacturing is a plus.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with nesting software.Certified to operate forklifts and overhead cranes.What We Offer:Competitive salary based on experience [$24-$30+/hr depending on experience].Opportunity for growth and training in advanced manufacturing technology.Key Competencies for SuccessAttention to Detail: Ensures high-quality, precise cuts in a fast-paced environment.Mechanical Aptitude: Understands machine behavior to optimize performancePay Details: $24.00 to $30.00 per hourBenefit offerings available for our associates include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits and a 401K plan.
