We are seeking an experienced Controller to join our team operating across five states under a multi-entity structure. The Controller owns the accounting function end-to-end: close, consolidation, cost accounting, and compliance - and serves as the technical backbone of the finance organization. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who can operate fluently in a complex, regulated, high-growth environment.This is a hybrid position with a heavy in-office presence during ramp up. Ideal candidates will be located within 1.5 hours of our Northampton, MA office: Worcester, MA | Providence, RI | Hartford, CT | Albany, NY area candidates encouraged to apply.Key Responsibilities:Financial close & consolidation — Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close across all entities, including intercompany eliminations and consolidated reporting on a timely, accurate basis.Cost & inventory accounting — Supervision of direct manufacturing cost accounting, absorption costing, inventory valuation, and standard/actual cost true-ups in a multi-facility production environment.Technical accounting — Apply and document GAAP across inventory (ASC 330), leases (ASC 842), revenue (ASC 606), stock comp (ASC 718), and income taxes (ASC 740), including memos and SOPs.Audit & tax — Lead the annual financial statement audit and coordinate with external tax advisors, including cannabis-specific positions (§280E, §263A/UNICAP) and support in other related areas.Regulatory & lender compliance — Ensure financial compliance with state cannabis regulators across operating states and with senior lender reporting and covenant requirements.Systems & controls — Maintain and improve the ERP (Acumatica) and surrounding finance stack (Datarails, Ramp) design and enforce internal controls, workflows, and process documentation.Team leadership — Manage, mentor, and develop the accounting team (onshore and offshore); ensure adequate coverage, training, and accountability.Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory/managementStrong technical GAAP foundation and demonstrated ownership of a full-cycle closeCost/manufacturing/distribution accounting experienceAdvanced Excel; ERP proficiencyPreferred Experience:CPACannabis or other highly regulated, multi-entity / multi-state industry experienceFamiliarity with §280E and cannabis tax considerationsExperience with Acumatica and FP&A/consolidation tooling
