Chief Engineer

LOCATION: North HoustonJOB DESCRIPTION:Responsible to ensure the proper performance of all necessary maintenance and operational tasks developed to assure maximum life and reliability of all mechanical systems for assigned properties/facilities.ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Assist in and conduct the daily operations and maintenance of plumbing, electrical, HVAC and general maintenance requirements of buildingsSupervise maintenance staff, assign and monitor maintenance projectsPerform preventive maintenance duties, including changing filters, oiling motors, replacing light fixtures, inspecting/adjusting belts, replacing motor bearings, aligning shafts and annual inspections as directed by manufacturersRecommend improvements for the preventive maintenance program on an on-going basisDevelop/maintain effective building specific maintenance proceduresCoordinate maintenance efforts with outside contractors and techniciansMaintain stock inventory controlRespond immediately to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, equipment failure, etc.) and customer concernsComply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and company directives as related to building operations and practice safe work habitsMay be only maintenance staff member on duty during certain shifts; may be required to work extended periods of time without relief when responding to priority/emergency situations (including overtime type assignments); may require shift work and/or on call dutiesOther duties may be assignedSKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:High School Diploma or GED equivalent5+ years demonstrated experience in a maintenance environmentAppropriate license/permit for trade as may be required, i.e. Journeyman or Master Electrician License or City LicensesMust be certified as a Universal Technician for CFC'sPossess and maintain a valid driver's license and good driving record with periodic checksProficient computer skills; familiar with Energy Management System (EMS) programming and fire alarm systemsWORKING CONDITIONS: Normal working conditions with the absence of disagreeable elementsNOTE: The statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees, and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required of personnel so classified.Newmark is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
