Yard Spotter/Yard Jockey

ScopeYard Spotter/Jockey is responsible to monitor all traffic inside the facility and to move trailers in and out of docks or around the facility. Yard Spotter/Jockey must be able to back trailers up to dock doors, often with other trailers on either side of docks. Inspects all vehicles for proper and safe operating conditions throughout to assist a fast paced processing plant and/or transportation facility. May require driving in adverse weather conditions.Essential FunctionsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable Accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Drive trailer jockey and tractor.Move trailer to designated dock for loading and unloading.Connect and disconnect tractor from trailer.Maintain Drop Trailer Log and communicate with Gatehouse and Transportation.Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage before and after shift.Maintain good housekeeping to avoid debris around the facility dock and staging areas.Foster a safe work environmentPerform other job-related duties, as assigned.OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements. PPE will include safety shoes, eye and ear protection, reflective vests and hairnets or hats along with any other necessary protection. Temperatures in the plant/warehouse can range a great deal from season to season.
