This position focuses on compliance, coordination, communication, and collaboration -ensuring that all legal, instructional, and documentation requirements are met with fidelity.The Case Manager works closely with the Special Education Coordinator to maintain compliance with IDEA and Section 504, strengthen instructional supports, and promote consistent implementation of best practices across grade levels. The Case Manager also collaborates with classroom teachers, associate teachers, related service providers, and families to support student growth and inclusion within the Montessori learning environment.Rooted in Sussex Montessori School's vision to "Believe in Growth," the Case Manager fosters a culture of partnership, accountability, and continuous improvement for all students.Key Responsibilities1. Case Management and ComplianceCoordinate IEP and 504 Plan development, implementation, and review for assigned students.Work collaboratively with the Special Education Coordinator to ensure all timelines, documentation, and service delivery meet IDEA, Section 504, and Delaware DOE compliance requirements.Maintain accurate and timely records (e.g., IEPs, progress reports, PWNs, service logs, and meeting notes).Serve as the point of contact for families and DOE reviewers regarding special education documentation, service delivery, and compliance.2. Instructional Collaboration and Support Partner with general education and associate teachers to adapt instruction and ensure students can access the general education curriculum.Support classroom teachers in implementing accommodations, modifications, and specially designed instruction (SDI).Collaborate with the Special Education Coordinator to provide feedback and professional guidance on instructional strategies and progress monitoring.Coordinate with related service providers (speech, occupational, and physical therapists, counselors) to ensure integrated supports.3. IEP Development and Implementation Facilitate IEP and 504 meetings, ensuring goals, accommodations, and services are appropriate and measurable.Collect, analyze, and share progress data with the Special Education Coordinator to guide instructional decisions.Draft and finalize IEP documents and associated notices in compliance with DOE standards.Communicate regularly with families to review progress and celebrate student growth.4. Behavioral and Social-Emotional Coordination Support implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and ensure consistency across settings.Collaborate with the Special Education Coordinator, behavior team, and Pathways staff to address student behavioral challenges.Participate in Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and monitor behavior data to guide interventions.Promote proactive, positive behavior supports aligned with Montessori peace education principles.5. Assessment and Progress Monitoring Coordinate academic, behavioral, and functional data collection systems for assigned students.Use assessment results to inform instruction, goal adjustments, and IEP updates.Participate in eligibility determinations, reevaluations, and data review meetings in collaboration with the Special Education Coordinator.Maintain organized and audit-ready documentation for all assigned students.6. Professional and Legal Responsibilities Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all federal and state legal requirements.Stay current on best practices in special education, compliance, and inclusive instruction.Engage in professional development and schoolwide learning aligned with Sussex Montessori's "Believe in Growth" philosophy.Collaborate with the Special Education Coordinator and leadership team to identify system-level trends and implement solutions that improve service delivery and compliance.About Sussex Montessori SchoolSussex Montessori School was approved as a charter school by the Delaware Department of Education in April 2018 and is currently serving grades K through 4. One grade per year will be added to eventually serve children in grades K through 6.
