This role is ideal for someone who combines strong technical accounting expertise with leadership capabilities and enjoys building processes in a high-growth startup environment.Reporting directly to the CFO, you will oversee core accounting operations, manage the close process, and help establish scalable systems, policies, and controls. You will also play a key role in hiring and mentoring future accounting team members as the company grows.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn and manage the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reportingOversee preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statementsEstablish and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls in accordance with GAAPLead the transition of accounting operations from external providers to a fully in-house functionManage and optimize general ledger activity and chart of accounts structurePartner cross-functionally with operations, product, compliance, and leadership teamsCoordinate audits, including managing external auditors and preparing required documentationProvide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-makingIdentify and implement process improvements, automation, and system enhancementsSupport regulatory reporting and compliance requirements relevant to a fintech environmentHire, mentor, and develop accounting staff as the team expandsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA strongly preferred)6–10+ years of progressive accounting experience (including management experience)Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standardsExperience in a startup or high-growth environment preferredPrior experience building or scaling accounting functions is a strong plusProficiency with accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar ERP systems)Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilitiesStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication skills with the ability to partner across functionsExperience in fintech or financial services is a plusWhat We’re Looking ForA builder and leader who thrives in creating structure and scaling processesA proactive, hands-on approach with strong ownership mentalityAbility to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environmentPassion for mentoring and developing talentAlignment with our mission to improve consumers’ financial well-beingInterested in hearing more?
