The Industries Manager 3 may be your opportunity to play a vital role in advancing public safety while helping incarcerated individuals build the skills and work ethic needed for successful reentry.Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, the Industries Manager 3 supports the agency's mission to improve public safety by positively changing lives through effective supervision and accountability of incarcerated workers. Correctional Industries (CI), a program within the Reentry Division, is dedicated to maintaining and expanding work training opportunities that develop marketable job skills, promote positive work habits, and reduce the tax burden of corrections by operating self-sustaining enterprises.In this role, you will provide leadership and oversight for Correctional Industries' incarcerated work programs within GreenScape Services operations. You will manage operational and program activities in partnership with facility superintendents, agency administration, CI managers and staff, and other internal and external stakeholders, including potential collaboration with other state agencies. You will ensure all operations comply with applicable Washington Administrative Code, Revised Code of Washington, agency policies, and state and federal laws. Additionally, you will contribute to business planning efforts and operational forecasting to support the continued growth and success of CI programs.ResponsibilitiesProviding industry oversight of the CI GreenScape Service operationsAssuming responsibility for assigned program assets, direct reports, and services provided by the CI Horticulture Services operationsDeveloping decision-making documents for change in business practices, equipment, or establishment of new staffing and/or industriesMonitoring and ensuring program sustainability on the sale of CI products to ensure full cost recovery with margins to cover program reinvestmentWorking in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders on product offerings, vendor communication, and new product developmentCoaching, training, and mentoring all direct reports in regard to personnel issues, forecasting, asset management, products, sales strategies, and customer serviceResolving concerns and complaints with internal and external stakeholdersProviding supervision and accountability to direct and indirect reports within the organizational chainDeveloping documents, and collaborating with stakeholders on policy revision, standard operating procedure development/revision, and/or process improvementsReviewing and inputting of annual forecasts in collaboration with internal stakeholders representing CI's various lines of businessEnsuring decisions and assigned direct reports are adhering to the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement, DOC Policies and Operational MemorandumsProviding regular updates and information as needed for CI Advisory Committee and/or other requests for reportsOversight and management of contracts as needed related to assigned areas of responsibilitySupervising and training incarcerated individuals in all aspects of horticultureSupervising and training incarcerated individuals in the establishing and maintenance of landscapingCompleting workplace investigations as assigned by the appointing authorityRequired QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GEDMinimum two (2) years of budget administration and developmentMinimum two (2) years in a management or supervisory positionMinimum two (2) years' experience in landscaping, greenhouse operations, horticulture or nurseryPreferred QualificationsBachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in project management, public administration or related field from an accredited institution whose accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the County of Higher Education (CHEA) or foreign equivalentExperience working in a correctional environmentThree (3) years or more experience in landscaping, greenhouse operations, horticulture or nurseryBenefitsAs an employee of the Department of Corrections, your work-life integration is a priority.
