Ministry OverviewChristian Aid Mission seeks to establish a witness for Christ in every nation by assisting indigenous ministries who are sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ in some of the world's most difficult mission fields, giving priority to ministries making disciples among unreached people groups. Today, we work with hundreds of indigenous ministries in eight regions of the world that share the gospel with more than 2,000 unreached people groups.Position OverviewThe Major Gifts Officer cultivates a donor portfolio for the Western US region, securing gifts of active and prospective major donors. He/she provides donors with funding opportunities for the indigenous ministries Christian Aid Mission (CAM) assists internationally. These funding opportunities have been vetted by the international ministry team and developed into an annual plan.The Major Gifts Officer position is full time and fully remote within the designated region and the position requires planned travel by air and car as needed for donor appointments and occasional travel to the Charlottesville VA headquarters.This position is part of the Major Relations team and reports to the Senior Missions Advancement Director.The salary range is $80,000 - $85,000 depending on experience.Essential ResponsibilitiesGrow engagement of a portfolio of 100-150 major donors who align with CAM's strategic mission.Develop annual income and cultivation plans for each donor in your portfolio. This includes touchpoints to further develop relationships, proposals and verbal 'asks' timeline, ministry reports and fulfilling matching gift needs that will help accomplish CAM's annual funding goals.Forecast annual portfolio income growth, monitor progress regularly and continually seek ways to grow and develop the portfolio.Keep good travel and expense accounts and participate in preparing the Major Relations annual expense budget.Determine funding proposal and report needs throughout the year and keep the proposal and report schedules for marketing and ministry teams up-to-date.Encourage major donors to participate in scheduled ministry leader/donor Zoom and in-person events.Maintain a high level of interaction with donors that includes face-to-face visits, Zoom calls, phone calls, emails and texts. Research and contact prospect donors to begin ministry engagement.Keep all donor communications up-to-date in SE (Donor Direct CRM) ensuring all communications and donor activities and interests are entered in a timely fashion.Practice good stewardship and adhere to the highest ethical standards, demonstrate perseverance, optimism, and positive attitude. Convey sensitivity to the needs of the donors with prompt responses.Strive to meet goals as agreed upon by the Senior Missions Advancement Director. These goals will assist with meeting the mission/vision of Christian Aid Mission.QualificationsSignificant experience working with donors, especially major donors, and a solid understanding of fundraising best practices.A comprehensive understanding of Christian Aid Mission, a compatible theological world-view, and an appreciation and passion for indigenous missions.Able to establish relationships with a variety of people (individuals, business owners, church. leaders, affiliated church groups, lay people), high-capacity donors and diverse demographics.Demonstrates effective working relationship with other team members and departments.Proficient oral, presentation, and written communications skills.Ability to make decisions regarding workflow efficiency, effectiveness and timetables with strong analytical, critical thinking, resourcefulness and problem-solving skills.Good organizational and time management skills.Self-starter.Proficient in MS Office.Experience with SE (Donor Direct CRM) or similar CRM.Fundraising certificates a plus.EducationBA/BS degree or equivalent vocational / technical training (4 years formal education)Experience3 years minimum experience in fundraising. Experience working with major donors in a non-profit sector preferred. Ministry experience a plus.
