Telephone OperatorKoniag Advisory Business Solutions, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Telephone Operator to support KABS and our government customer at Poplar, MT. This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust.This position is covered under the Service Contract Act. Gibbs Health Center. This position is the first point of contact for patients, families, and visitors, requiring exceptional customer service skills and the ability to manage multiple communication channels simultaneously in a healthcare environment.Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:Telephone Switchboard Operations:Operate multi-line telephone switchboard system serving approximately 85 extensionsAnswer incoming calls promptly and professionallyRoute calls accurately to appropriate departments, staff members, and extensionsHandle high call volume efficiently while maintaining quality customer serviceManage call transfers, hold, and conference calls as neededServe as primary greeter for patients and visitors entering the health centerProvide friendly, professional, and culturally sensitive customer serviceAssist patients and visitors with directions, general information, and basic inquiriesMaintain welcoming and organized reception areaSupport patient check-in processes as neededOperate public address (PA) system for facility-wide announcementsFollow Indian Health Service emergency codes and special communication protocolsImplement emergency communication procedures during critical situationsCoordinate with security and emergency response teams as requiredRelay messages accurately between staff, patients, and external contactsProvide routine, authorized information including:Staff extensions and contact informationDepartment locations and directionsGeneral facility hours and schedulesBasic procedural informationMaintain current staff directory and contact informationClerical Support:Provide general clerical assistance to patients and visitorsAssist with basic administrative tasks as time permitsMaintain visitor logs and communication recordsSupport front desk operations during peak periodsRequired Qualifications:Meet minimum qualification requirements as outlined in prime contractExcellent verbal communication and interpersonal skillsProfessional telephone etiquette and customer service experienceAbility to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environmentStrong listening skills and attention to detailBasic computer skills and familiarity with office equipmentAbility to remain calm and professional under pressurePreferred Qualifications:Previous experience as telephone operator or receptionist in healthcare settingKnowledge of medical terminologyBilingual skills (English and Native American languages)Familiarity with Indian Health Service operationsPhysical Requirements:Ability to sit for extended periods while operating switchboardClear speech and excellent hearing for telephone communicationsManual dexterity for operating telephone equipment and computer systemsVisual acuity for reading displays, directories, and written materialsAdditional Requirements:Successful completion of background checkCompliance with all IHS policies and proceduresAdherence to HIPAA privacy and security requirementsParticipation in site-specific orientation and competency assessmentsComputer security training and complianceProfessional appearance standardsAbility to maintain confidentiality of sensitive informationPosition requires consistent attendance due to critical communication roleMust be available for emergency communication support as neededMay be required to provide coverage during staff absencesPosition involves handling emergency calls and urgent communicationsSecurity Requirement:Ability to obtain a Public TrustEmergency Responsibilities:Knowledge and implementation of IHS emergency communication codesCoordination with emergency response teams during critical incidentsMaintenance of communication systems during emergency situationsFollow established protocols for medical emergencies and facility securityWorking Conditions:Healthcare facility reception/switchboard environmentContinuous sitting at switchboard station for extended periodsFrequent use of telephone headset and communication equipmentHigh-volume, fast-paced patient interaction environmentMay involve exposure to emergency situations and urgent communicationsOur Equal Employment Opportunity Policy: The company is an equal opportunity employer.
