We approach every business problem with blinding originality.The successful candidate is fearlessly creative, imaginative, curious, organized, and collaborative within a multi-disciplinary network of professionals at the forefront of our analytics and technology R&D efforts and is comfortable in a fast paced, high-energy environment.Job Duties:Works with industry leaders to brainstorm analytic ideas, prioritize features, define scope, and iterate with continuous feedback from industry leaders and pilot teamsLeads and develops a growing team of highly motivated analytics and automation professionalsManages analytics projects and workflows with increasing levels of complexityApplies working knowledge of business concepts to analytical and visualization routines in Power BI, including data models, queries, DAX formulas, and report visualsDesigns and develops standardized and customized data transformation and automation workflows using tools like Alteryx, Python and SQLDevelops and deploys data analytics techniques, tools and templates to improve audit quality, as well as enhances engagement efficiency and acceptance of emerging methodsEnsures data analytics dashboards are easy to use, conform to internal requirements, and provide value to engagement teams and clientsCollaborates with stakeholders from Professional Practice; Quality Control; National IT; National Innovation; and BDO Global teams as neededApplies knowledge of financial data systems to ensure our data model is structured appropriately for repeatable, reusable analytics routinesFurthers BDO's innovation efforts and personal development by devoting 15-20% of time to projects involving emerging technology, including but not limited to advanced analytics, research and development activities and other forward-looking projects and experimentsMonitors engagement team feedback and incorporating iterative improvements into existing audit data analytics routinesDevelops and conducts training sessions for individual data analytics routines that are clear, engaging and hands-on with examplesAdditional responsibilities and projects as requiredQualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Education:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Statistics required, and four (4) years or more years of accounting, finance, analytics, or model generation experience, requiredOR in lieu of a degree, six (6) or more years of accounting, finance, analytics, or model generation experience, requiredMaster's degree in related field, preferredExperience:Data Analytics or other related experience, preferredDemonstrated initiative in learning, adopting, and/or applying innovative approaches and technology, preferredLicense/Certifications:Certified Public Accountant license, preferredAlteryx Designer certification and/or other analytics certifications, preferredCertified Information Systems Analyst certification, preferredSoftware:Experience with data visualization tools, requiredProficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, requiredExperience with Power BI, Alteryx, SQL and/or Python, preferredCan read, interpret, and/or have some understanding of Power Query, M language and DAX, preferredWorking knowledge of accounting and audit methods, preferredOther Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: All PreferredHigh level of curiosity and eagerness to learnAbility to think critically to solve problemsStrong written and verbal communication skillsExcellent organizational and analytical skillsDemonstrates attention to detail while also understanding the big pictureAbility to work effectively in a team settingPositive attitude and willingness to take on challenging assignmentsCan take initiative and self-direct in the absence of detailed guidelinesComfortable managing deadlines for multiple deliverables and thrive in a fast-paced, open environmentDemonstrated ability to effectively lead teams and developing othersIndividual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.National Range: $110,000 - $142,000 Maryland Range: $110,000 - $142,000 NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $110,000 - $142,000
