AUTOMOTIVE DIESEL MECHANIC

Job Title Performs skilled work of considerable difficulty involving repairing, overhauling and maintenance of diesel engines and a variety of automotive, construction and related equipment Job Description Work involves diagnosing malfunctions in light and heavy motorized equipment, removing and replacing or rebuilding worn or broken parts, and maintaining records of work performed. Employee is also responsible for maintaining inventories of replacement parts and supplies; and related work as required. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or G.E.D.* A valid driver's license.* Five (5) years of full-time experience as a journeyman diesel mechanic performing diesel engine repair. Prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify education and license(s) claimed by the applicant to qualify for this classification. If selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this job classification. Kind of Examination A rating of training and experience, weighted 100%. All related previous experience will be considered for qualification purposes; however, credit on the rating of training and experience will only be given for experience gained within the last ten (10) years.
