Job DetailsDescriptionThe Sherwood Companies have a proven track record of completing a variety of projects from General Construction, to Construction Management and Design Build Projects for both public and private owners. A brief summary of the types of projects include, urban expressways, bridges, underground utilities, dam construction, asphalt/concrete paving and water/wastewater treatment plants.Job DescriptionThis person will be responsible for the safe and efficient operations of a construction project. The person will plan, direct and coordinate all crews and subcontractors to ensure safety, quality and productivity metrics are achieved. This role is classified as safety sensitive.ACTIVITIES/TASKS/SCOPE Lead by example that safety is the number one priority Supervise, coordinate and schedule the activities of the project and crews Read specifications, such as blueprints, to determine construction requirements and procedure planning Inspect work progress, equipment or construction sites to verify safety, quality and specifications are met Locate, measure and mark site locations or placement of structures or equipment Coordinate work activities with other construction project activities Confer with project manager or technical personnel, other departments or contractors to resolve problems or to coordinate activities Assist workers engaged in construction activities, using hand tools or other equipment Train and develop crew members as deemed necessary Maintain good customer relations by acting in a professional and courteous manner Other duties as assignedPERFORMANCE MEASURES Safety Quality of product Meeting specificationsCOMPETENCIES Leading Others Work Standards Continuous Improvement Initiating Action Adaptability Contributing to Team Success Managing Work (Time Management) CommunicationEducation/Experience High school diploma or GED required Must have a clean driving record 5-6 years of quality experience in heavy civil construction 2-3 years of experience in managing and leading a teamCertification/Other Skills And Abilities Quality control analysis Judgement and decision making Monitoring Excellent oral and written communication Deductive reasoning Time management Reaction timePHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
