Nursing SupervisorThis role manages clinical support teams in a Community Health Center (CHC), performing administrative and supervisory duties to ensure effective patient care. The Nursing Supervisor collaborates with Nursing Administration and other teams to maintain high-quality care and oversee staff performance. Accountability for patient care and adherence to regulations, policies, and nursing standards is required.
Supervision and Team Management
Oversees and supervises a team of Nurses and Medical Assistants (MAs) within the Community Health Centers (CHC).
Provides mentorship, guidance, and training to clinical team members to ensure high standards of care.
Collaborates with the Nursing Administration team to review Nurse and MA resumes, participate in the interview process for potential candidates, and support new team members during their orientation and training process once hired.
Ensures that the clinical support team is engaged and feels valued within the organization.
Conducts regular meetings with clinical team direct reports, as well as routine one-on-ones to ensure open communication, timely updates, and opportunities for constructive feedback.
Participates in all assigned leadership courses and scheduled collaborative meetings.
Manages and addresses performance concerns, conflicts, and clinical issues in a timely and professional manner, in collaboration with the Nursing Administration team and other appropriate Administration members, ensuring adherence to CHC and Health Care District's policies and procedures.
Monitors attendance and tardiness trends of direct reports, addressing issues in real time, and collaborates with the Nursing Administration team to ensure appropriate discussions, disciplinary actions, and resolutions are implemented.
Supports and demonstrates practices consistent with the mission, philosophy, standards, policies, and procedures of the Health Care District and CHCs.
Clinical Oversight
Communicates with the Nursing Administration team to inform them of significant nursing issues, including proposed policy or procedural changes, provider matters, and clinical workflow barriers, while focusing on finding solutions.
Acts as a liaison between providers and support staff.
Monitors and evaluates the quality of patient care provided by the clinical support team to ensure compliance with clinical protocols, policies, and procedures.
Provides support in complex patient care situations, assists with difficult cases, and acts as a clinical resource for the clinical support team.
Monitors inventory of medical supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock and ordering supplies as needed.
Quality, Risk and Compliance
Coordinates with Compliance, Risk, Infection Control, and Quality departments to implement initiatives and educate clinical support teams.
Identifies improvement areas and reports to the Quality and Risk Department.
Encourages occurrence reporting among clinical team members. Aids investigations and collaborates with Risk Department on corrective actions.
Reports incidents in risk software.
Assists during regulatory or accrediting agency visits as needed.
Training and Development
Collaborates with Clinical Education to assess deficiencies in clinical support team performance across all sites.
Leads performance appraisals for new hires and existing team members with Nursing Administration, including input from Providers.
Provides tours, introductions, and safety walkthroughs for new clinical support team members on their first day at the clinic.
Operational Support
Collaborates with Nursing Administration to manage staffing needs, approval of coverage, and time off requests to ensure clinical efficiency. Provides nursing care during staffing shortages.
Works with onsite operations for smooth daily functioning.
Handles patient complaints about clinical care promptly and professionally, assisting Patient Relations with any follow-up required during the complaint process.
Communication and Collaboration
Participates in scheduled meetings with their direct supervisor, and possibly other Nursing Supervisors, to contribute to the discussion, improve process, increase team member engagement and be proactive and initiate new concepts.
Fosters a positive work environment by maintaining open and transparent communication with all team members and leadership.
Emergency duty may be required of the incumbent that includes working in a special needs shelter or Red Cross shelters or to perform other emergency duties, including, but not limited to, responses to threats or disasters, man-made or natural.

Education: Associate's, Bachelor's, or Diploma in Nursing required
Experience: Minimum of one(1) year experience as a registered nurse (RN) is required. Supervisory experience in a health care environment is preferred.
Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Licensure: State of Florida, Department of Health Registered Nurse required
