Full-stack Developer
Role: Full-Stack Developer (EdTech, AI-Native)Company: Tutored By DesignProject Type: Contract → Long-term (potential lead role)What you’ll work on • Build an AI-native, high-concurrency SAT prep platform used by 100,000+ active learners • Design and implement a pixel-accurate Digital SAT exam simulator (Desmos, mark-for-review, strikethrough, timing logic) • Develop real-time competitive features (1v1 and group battle modes, ranked ladders, low-latency scoring) • Integrate LLMs for adaptive testing, error-specific explanations, and score prediction • Build a scalable LMS for courses, progress tracking, live cohorts, and homework/grading • Create a proprietary admin/CMS so non-technical staff can manage question banks, exams, and content at scaleTechnical requirements • Strong experience with React + Next.js (SSR/ISR) • Backend experience with Python (FastAPI or Django) and/or Node.js • Real-time systems experience (WebSockets, Socket.io, or equivalent) • Hands-on experience integrating LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini) • Familiarity with vector databases (Pinecone or similar) • Cloud infrastructure experience on AWS or GCP, including CI/CD • Comfortable handling high-traffic, data-heavy applicationsNice to have (not required) • EdTech or assessment platform experience • Experience building multiplayer or competitive real-time systems • Strong product instincts (latency, retention, UX matter here) • Familiarity with LaTeX rendering, SVGs, or math-heavy content systemsWhat we’re looking for • Someone who can own architecture decisions, not just execute tickets • Ability to ship v1 fast, then iterate cleanly toward v2/v3 • Clear communicator who can work directly with a non-technical founderEngagement details • Initial scope: Core platform build (Phase 1) • Compensation: Competitive contract rates; open to equity discussion for the right fit • Timeline: Immediate start; fast-moving build cycleHow to apply • Send a brief intro, relevant work, and links (GitHub, case studies, live products) • Email: contact@tutoredbydesign.com
