Fractional People Operations Consultant
Role: Fractional People Operations Contractor (Part-Time)Location: EST of the US required; DC Metro Area preferred for occasional in-person meetings in DCHours: 5–10 hours/week (may scale with experience, particularly in government contracting)Rate: $40–50/hourAbout the ContractThis is a highly detail-oriented People Operations role - with a decent amount of General Ops to go with it. We apply a structured methodology and holistic approach to AI transformation and a broad spectrum of technical services centered in the harnessing of people, science and technology.Contact will include:Support planning and data analysis for team utilization across multiple projects, including building out repeatable processes and tracking for profitability Conduct analysis for 1099 to W2 conversion Set up new accounting systems (Gusto) Coordinate with Bookkeeper/staff to ensure proper billing codes Track onboarding and project transition requirements (MSFT background checks) Review and edit legal/contractual documents as needed (Cyber Security insurance) Establish tools to monitor and maintain business certifications and subscriptions (SBA WOSB, CAGE, GSA MAS, GovWin) Review and update existing subcontractor agreements to align with current contracts Coordinate and manage background checks for new contractors Lead onboarding processes for new 1099 contractors and W-2 employees Conduct market research to help set competitive contract rates, with a focus on government contracts Document SOPs to improve team compliance (i.e. mandated trainings, time tracking) and performance Recommend and implement simple, scalable people operations processes Perform administrative tasks as needed (ad hoc research, meeting coordination, etc.) Required Background:5+ years experience in General and People Operations Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel spreadsheet calculations, data analysis and report tracking Strong analytical skills and attention to detail Familiarity with HR compliance for small startups as well as contractor management and subcontract agreements Experience leading onboarding processes and determining when to leverage external tools or platforms (e.g., Gusto) to improve efficiencyFirmly positions one's self in the fractional marketplace as an independent contractor providing People Ops supportBased in Eastern Time Zone (EST) of the USPreferred background:Experience working with government contracts or in government-adjacent environmentsExperience setting or benchmarking contract rates, specifically with government contractingBased in the DC Metro Area for occasional in-person meetings in DC To apply: Please upload your resume and complete this short application.
