This is a true field leadership role, not just an operator position. You will take ownership of crew performance, production output, and jobsite execution while leading from the front in demanding marine environments. You will operate critical equipment while driving daily production, mentoring crew members, enforcing safety standards, and ensuring each project is executed with precision and efficiency. This role is ideal for a respected field leader who naturally steps into decision-making responsibilities and takes ownership of project outcomes. Key ResponsibilitiesMarine Equipment & Production LeadershipOperate long reach excavators in marine and land-based dredging environmentsPerform unloading operations from hopper barges into trucks (up to 60 ft reach)Execute underwater dredging from barge-based platforms (up to 55 ft reach)Lead daily production activities to meet project schedules and quality standardsCoordinate crew workflow to maximize efficiency and minimize downtimeField Leadership & Crew OversightProvide direction to laborers, deckhands, and support crewEstablish and maintain high standards for safety, accountability, and professionalismIdentify operational inefficiencies and implement corrective solutionsTrain and mentor less-experienced operators and crew membersCommunicate production updates, equipment needs, and field challenges to ownershipEquipment & Site ManagementPerform daily inspections and preventative maintenance on heavy equipmentTroubleshoot engines, hydraulics, and marine field equipment issuesAssist with small boat handling and marine logistics when requiredMaintain organized, clean, and compliant job sitesEnforce company safety policies and marine construction protocols Qualifications We are seeking a senior-level dredging professional with strong technical ability and demonstrated leadership capability.Required:5+ years of excavator operating experienceProven dredging or marine construction experienceAdvanced long reach excavator proficiencyExperience operating on barges and working over waterStrong mechanical aptitude (engines, hydraulics, field servicing)Valid driver's licenseAbility to work overtime and occasional SaturdaysPreferred:Experience leading crews or supervising field operationsBoat handling experienceHeavy civil or marine project coordination experience What We're Looking ForOwnership mentality and accountability for resultsDecisive field leadershipCalm, structured communication under pressureAbility to build organization and production discipline on-siteLong-term commitment to growing with a specialized marine contractor Compensation & Growth$25.00 - $29.00 per hour starting range (based on experience)Structured pay increases:Increase after 3 monthsIncrease after 6 monthsUp to $30.00 per hour + paid vacation eligibility after one yearWeekly pay cycleYear-end bonus opportunity BenefitsMedical, Dental, and Vision InsurancePaid Time Off (Holidays, Vacation, Sick Leave)Weekly PayUniforms and safety equipment providedLocal coastal projects - home most nightsLeadership growth opportunities as operations expand Work ScheduleFull-TimeMonday - Friday40+ hours per weekOvertime expectedOccasional Saturdays based on project demand Work LocationOn-site field operationsBased in Palm City, FLProjects throughout surrounding coastal regionsDaily local commute required Equal Employment Opportunity We are proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
