The organization supports professional growth and learning across multiple business units while fostering an inclusive environment where employees can contribute and succeed.About the OpportunityThe Junior Data Scientist supports data-driven decision-making across underwriting, pricing, claims, and customer retention. This role analyzes complex datasets, develops predictive models, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to translate business challenges into actionable data science solutions. The position contributes to business performance through data-driven insights, innovation, and effective model management.Responsibilities• Analyze large and complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and business opportunities.• Design, develop, and deploy predictive models supporting underwriting, pricing, claims, and customer retention.• Assist in developing data pipelines and automated reporting tools.• Collaborate with actuarial, underwriting, claims, and product teams to develop data science solutions.• Communicate analytical insights and recommendations to leadership through data storytelling and visualization.• Monitor model performance and maintain data quality and integrity.• Research new data sources, modeling techniques, and technologies to support innovation.• Partner with data engineers to ensure data quality, accessibility, and scalability.• Perform additional duties as assigned.Requirements• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, or a related quantitative field; PhD preferred.• Proficiency in machine learning, model optimization techniques, and analytical programming.• Experience with Python, SQL, and machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn, XGBoost, and LightGBM.• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.• Experience with data pipeline tools such as Airflow and dbt.• Knowledge of geospatial data, telematics, or catastrophe modeling.• Proficiency with data visualization platforms such as Tableau or Power BI and dashboard development.• Understanding of business and technology operations, industry trends, regulatory requirements, and model governance within the insurance industry.Pay Range and Compensation Package• Salary range: $75,000–$85,000 per year.Benefits & Perks• Medical, dental, and vision coverage for full-time employees.• Wellness programs.• Parental leave.• Adoption assistance.• Tuition reimbursement.• Paid time off and paid holidays for full-time and eligible part-time employees.• 401(k) plan with company match.• Employee stock purchase plan.• Commuter benefits.Equal Opportunity Statement: Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
