There will be two primary duties: (1) Identifying field-collected specimens of adult and larval caddisflies and curating their collections; and (2) conducting field work to capture adult and larval caddisflies along gradients of human activity (e.g., urbanization). Other duties as assigned.JOB DUTIES:85% - Essential - Lab/museum work: Use dichotomous keys to identify to species adult and larval caddisflies obtained through field collected samples. Once each specimen is identified to the species level, curate each specimen into the Clemson University Arthropod Collection by storing specimens in individually marked vials.5% - Essential - Conduct field work aimed to collect adult and larval caddisflies: Use kick nets to conduct standardized sampling of benthic caddisflies. Use light traps to conduct standardized sampling of adult (aerial phase) caddisflies.5% - Essential - Curate data. Oversee that all data are written and entered correctly. Correct and flag errors and report to supervisor.5% - Essential - Fieldwork preparation. Clean and store gear, repair gear, prep for sampling.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Education - Knowledge of entomology, plant pathology and methods of control and eradication of plant diseases and harmful insects. Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations related to plant diseases and control of harmful insects. Ability to prepare technical publications and proposed regulations. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to plan and implement insect control programs. Ability to supervise subordinates.PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:Education - Bachelor's Degree - Biology, Entomology, or similar degree
