About the Role

BHO Tech Location: Bay Area (Hybrid) Role We're looking for a Distributed Systems Engineer with deep Elixir / Erlang / OTP experience to design and scale backend systems that must be highly available, fault-tolerant, and real-time. You'll own architecture and implementation for core systems that need to run reliably under load.
What You'll Do:
- Build and maintain distributed, low-latency backend services
- Design systems using OTP, supervision trees, and concurrency patterns
- Develop real-time pipelines, message-passing, and event-driven services
- Optimize system reliability, performance, and resilience
- Work closely with product + backend teams to deliver features end-to-end
What We're Looking For:
- Strong professional experience with Elixir and/or Erlang/OTPDeep understanding of concurrency, fault-tolerance, and distributed systems
- Experience running production services at scale
- Clean engineering habits + strong debugging and performance instincts
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment
Bonus: Phoenix / LiveView experience
