As a Lead Software Engineer at Visibly, you will be a key technical leader on our engineering team, guiding architectural decisions and turning our most ambitious ideas into reality. You'll drive the development of the services that power our digital exams and provider platform, mentoring other engineers and setting the standard for technical excellence. We're looking for a seasoned builder who is passionate about creating robust, scalable software and wants to lead major technical initiatives in a collaborative, fast-moving environment.Please note that this is a fully remote position. However, candidates must be available during core working hours (8AM-5PM CT).What You'll DoLead the design, architecture, and development of major features for our online vision tests and vision care platform.Drive the strategy and implementation of AI-powered features, leveraging cutting-edge tools to enhance our products and internal workflows.Set and champion high standards for code quality, testing, and performance, mentoring engineers in best practices.Partner closely with product, design, and other stakeholders to define the technical roadmap and influence strategy.Drive technical projects from concept to deployment, ensuring alignment with business goals and delivering significant impact for our patients and doctors.Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, fostering their growth and technical skills.Foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement within the engineering team.What You'll Bring8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a demonstrated history of technical leadership.BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.Proven experience leading complex technical projects and making impactful architectural decisions.Start-up or entrepreneurial experience is highly preferred; you thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment.Expertise in designing and building scalable, serverless applications using key AWS services (e.g., Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3).Proficiency in backend development with Node.js and/or Python.Solid experience with modern frontend frameworks (we use React/Redux) and JavaScript, HTML, & CSS.Deep experience with testing methodologies and a commitment to building well-tested, reliable software (we use Jest).Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (we use AWS CDK) and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions).Bonus If You Have ItExperience with both AWS and GCP.A keen eye for UI/UX and high visual standards.AI Proficiency, particularly in generative AI implementations.Experience with Ruby on Rails.BenefitsCompetitive compensationHealth insurance, medical and dental401(k)Flexible vacationWork from home policySponsorship Unavailable: Visibly is unable to provide sponsorship or transfer any kind of Visa at this time.Salary Range: $150,000.00 - $175,000.00 Annual.We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
