System Designer
The System Designer is responsible for ensuring the functionality of AVLA systems that meet the unique requirements and capabilities of each client’s vision. System Designers are responsible for understanding the scope of each project, applying current technology, and providing documentation to Client Relations Managers, Engineers, and CAD/Revit draftsmen.The System Designer is a salaried/exempt position associated with the local branch office. This System Designer reports to the Branch Manager and works closely with System Consultants, Engineers, and other Design staff.The System Designer may work remotely; however, on-site and in-office work will be required at times under the direction of the Branch Manager. Periodic overnight travel will be required.Primary Responsibilities1. Design and execute end-to-end AVL design projects, including audio, video, lighting, and control systems, ensuring accuracy, performance, and compliance with client expectations.Ability to use multiple manufacturers’ prediction software for speaker system designFamiliarity with mid and high-end audio consolesAbility to design SDI and fiber-based broadcast video/camera systemsKnowledge of mid to large-scale lighting systems and controlCapability to do basic networking design using VLANsDante CertificationQ-Sys CertificationAutoCad/Vectorworks capability preferred, though not primary responsibilityCapability to tune audio systems using Smaart or similar software preferred2. Create and validate accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and specifications for AV and lighting systems.3. Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and field teams to ensure seamless design integration and timely delivery.4. Support commissioning and integration activities, including troubleshooting and validation of system performance onsite or remotely.Secondary Responsibilities1. Ensure coordination with the client and other trades and disciplines, including electrical, IT/networking, and architectural teams, throughout the project lifecycle.2. Assist with project planning, scheduling, and milestone tracking throughout design and construction phases.
