Job Description
This position designs mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and some electrical to meet both the requirements of the project and shipment schedule. Accountable to the Engineering Manager for fulfilling his/her function.
Essential Functions:
Works from sketches to create working drawings, layouts, details and bill of materials, utilizing orthographic, auxiliary projections, sections and solids.
Understands dimensional fits, stack ups and geometric tolerancing (ANSI Y 14.5)
Has basic working knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic components.
Incorporates power transmission components in designs. Examples: gears, belts, chains, clutches, brakes and ball screws.
Has knowledge of specifications for materials and heat treat metals.
Has basic knowledge of manufacturing and inspection equipment and practices.
Performs technical calculations and analyses
Measures and makes sketches of components and assemblies at workstation and at shop assembly area.
Uses Auto Cad 2-D & Inventor 3-D computer drawing systems.
Uses ERP System for Item Master and BOM creation and use.
Has the ability to work within schedules and meet critical deadlines.
Quality of output will be responsibility of the individual and will be responsible to comply with safety rules and regulations at Bourn & Koch.
The individual should be available to complete projects that may be weeks or even months in duration.
The individual must be able to conduct themselves professionally with customers, vendors, and other Bourn & Koch employees.
Depending on workloads, may be required to work in other areas of the Company.

Supervisory Responsibility - This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment - Normal office environment, with exposure to shop conditions.
Physical Demands - The individual may be standing for periods of up to 4 hours without breaks and or moving/climbing around machines and must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work - This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Travel - Travel time dependent on unforeseen field issues. Should be less than 10% of the year.
Required Education and Experience - Mechanical Technology Associates Degree with 10 years minimum machine tool related work experience; or BSME with 5 years minimum machine tool related work experience; or MSME with 6 months minimum related work experience.
