Laboratory Technician

Job Title: Laboratory TechnicianJob DescriptionJoin our dedicated team as a Laboratory Technician, where you will play a crucial role in executing insect and plant-based experiments. You will be responsible for collecting and curating high-quality data under tight deadlines and assisting with the maintenance and management of insect colonies. Your work will take place in diverse settings, including greenhouses, growth chambers, and field environments.Responsibilities+ Execute insect and plant-based experiments with a team.+ Collect and curate high-quality data under deadlines.+ Assist with insect colony tasks including daily maintenance, diet preparation, egg collection, and sanitation.+ Work with plants and insects in greenhouse, growth chamber, or field settings.+ Ensure all materials necessary for rearing insect colonies and executing assays are prepared properly and on time.+ Conduct miscellaneous tasks such as cleaning, handling, packaging, and storing facility supplies and materials.Essential Skills+ High school diploma/GED required.+ Bachelor's degree in entomology, agriculture, horticulture, plant physiology, or related field, or three or more years of related experience is preferred.+ Ability to pay close attention to detail and follow standard operating and safety protocols.+ Excellent communication and organizational skills.+ High degree of self-motivation and positive attitude.+ Ability to work independently and as a team member with minimal supervision.+ Basic computer skills, including MS Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.Additional Skills & Qualifications+ Ability to stand and sit for long periods.+ Capability to lift up to 30 lbs.+ Tolerance for performing repetitive work in warm, humid conditions.Work EnvironmentWork is conducted Monday through Friday on the 1st shift. The role requires working in various settings, including greenhouses and growth chambers, which can be warm and humid. The position involves repetitive tasks and physical activities such as standing, sitting, and lifting.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Johnston, IA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
