Job Title: Senior Data Engineer – Oracle PL/SQL (Asset Management)Location: Durham, NC (On-site)Employment Type: Contract (W2 through ZipStaff — No C2C or 1099)About the OpportunityZipStaff is seeking a senior Data Engineer with deep Oracle PL/SQL expertise to join a highly effective data engineering squad supporting Asset Management Technology at a leading financial services organization.You will develop high-quality, scalable data solutions for critical investment management platforms that support managed accounts, mutual funds, and ETFs. The multi-terabyte data platform serves investment users and customers making daily decisions involving billions of dollars in market investments.What You’ll Do:Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable data engineering solutions within the Asset Management Technology environment.Build and optimize complex Oracle PL/SQL packages, procedures, functions, and SQL scripts.Perform database performance tuning and ensure efficient data processing at scale.Develop and support ETL processes (Informatica) and data warehouse solutions (including Snowflake).Apply strong data modeling skills across Transactional, Data Mart, and Data Warehouse designs using quantitative and multi-dimensional analysis.Independently analyze technical challenges, assess impact, and deliver innovative solutions.Identify data gaps, issues, and patterns; design and implement effective solutions.Collaborate within an Agile squad and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering efficiency.Support DevOps and CI/CD practices (Maven, Jenkins, Git, Docker) for high-quality software delivery.Partner with investment management, research, trading, and operations stakeholders as needed.Required Qualifications:7+ years of professional data engineering / software development experience.Strong, current hands-on expertise in Oracle PL/SQL development, SQL scripting, and database performance tuning.Proven experience developing quality data engineering solutions in the financial services / asset management industry.Solid understanding of ETL tools (Informatica) and data warehousing concepts (Snowflake preferred).Strong data modeling skills (Transactional, Data Mart, Data Warehouse).Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum or Kanban).Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Ability to work on-site in Durham, NC.Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.Preferred Qualifications:Beginner-to-intermediate proficiency in Java, Python, REST APIs, and AWS.Hands-on experience with DevOps / CI/CD tools (Maven, Jenkins, Git, Docker).Prior experience supporting investment management, managed accounts, mutual funds, or ETF platforms.About ZipStaffZipStaff partners with leading organizations to connect skilled technology professionals with high-impact contract opportunities.
