Café Assistant Manager
Café Assistant Manager Rate of Pay: $24/hr. FLSA Status: Exempt Café Assistant Manager – FLSA Status: Exempt – Hours: Full-TimeReports to: Café Manager Position Summary: The Café Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the café and grab-and-go program while providing inclusive supervision and vocational coaching to staff. This position ensures high-quality customer service, food safety compliance, operational efficiency, and a supportive work environment for neurodivergent employees and individuals with disabilities. Primary Job Function(s): Oversee daily grab-and-go café operations, including opening and closing procedures. Assist with inventory management, ordering supplies, and maintaining accurate point-of-sale (POS) records. Provide hands-on coaching and training to staff in espresso preparation, food assembly, cashiering, and customer service. Support and supervise employees using individualized approaches, including visual supports, structured routines, and task checklists. Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and allergen handling standards. Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming café environment. Address customer concerns and staff conflicts professionally while modeling positive communication and teamwork. Assist with employee scheduling and daily operational planning. Maintain accurate financial and operational records, including daily sales reconciliation and inventory tracking. Support hiring, onboarding, and training of new café staff as needed. Ensure all staff understand and work toward fulfilling the mission and values of the organization. Participate in team meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities. Ensure equipment is properly maintained and operational concerns are reported promptly. Other duties as assigned. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Food Service Management, Human Services, or a related field preferred. Experience: Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in a fast-paced food service, café, or retail environment. Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred. Experience supporting individuals with disabilities or neurodivergent individuals is strongly preferred. ServSafe Manager Certification required or willingness to obtain within designated timeframe. Skills & Abilities: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to adapt coaching and management styles to different learning needs. Ability to remain calm, flexible, and solution-oriented in a fast-paced environment. Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and person-centered support. Working Conditions: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Frequent lifting, carrying, and moving items up to 50 lbs. Flexible schedule, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Fast-paced café and food service environment.
