This position requires an individual who is extremely motivated with a high level of organizational skill, including written and verbal communication, and problem solving.Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)* Interface directly with company leadership to address safety concerns* Assist in maintaining a high level of safety compliance and awareness at company fixed locations (asphalt plants, offices, shops) and road construction projects through site visits and documentation of deficiencies* Interface with field crews on a regular basis to promote company safety philosophies, expectations, and personal responsibility.* Interact and consult with other members of the CRH safety team to develop new safety initiatives, objectives, and best practices* Attend training sessions/meetings presented by CRH or national safety organizations as neededTraining* Appropriate OSHA required training* CRH mandated training as neededEffectively manage any work-related injury, incident, or near miss including:Incident investigation to determine cause and contributing factorsInjury prevention strategiesReportingImplementation of corrective actionsInterface with Worker's Compensation TPA to manage cases.Recordkeeping (OSHA) Maintain documentation for safety and health program (OSHA 300, monthly reporting, BLS annual surveys)Assist in environmental compliance as neededConsult with Human Resource personnel on safety concerns including:Orientation of new hiresToolbox meetingsMonthly safety updatesSafety incentive plansQuarterly/Annual safety meetingsDisciplinary issues related to safetyReturn to Work* Regular and timely attendanceQualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.Education/ExperiencePrevious experience in mining required.Previous experience road construction, asphalt paving and manufacturing preferred.BA/BS degree in Occupational Safety or related field or comparable professional experience in industrial safety preferred.Knowledge/Skill RequirementsMust be familiar with OSHA/DOT regulations pertaining to safety and health.Computer skills in Microsoft office, Excel, Work and Power PointAbility to communicate effectively with many different types of employeesGeneral RequirementsMobility to attend various meetings and events at offsite locationsHours are extended throughout the year to include nights and weekends when necessaryTravel may be requiredWhat CRH Offers YouHighly competitive base payComprehensive medical, dental and disability benefits programsGroup retirement savings programHealth and wellness programsAn inclusive culture that values opportunity for growth, development, and internal promotionAbout CRHCRH has a long and proud heritage.
