Associate Scientist (Watertown)
Associate Scientist 12-month contract Onsite in Watertown, MA Key Responsibilities Laboratory Work: Perform mammalian cell culture, including work with primary cells and cell line maintenance Isolate and culture human cells, including differentiation of primary cell types Support generation of modified cell lines (e.g., gene editing or overexpression techniques) Process tissue samples for downstream molecular and protein-based assays Conduct and analyze experiments using techniques such as qRT-PCR, plate-based assays, and enzyme assays Troubleshoot and optimize experimental protocols as needed Maintain accurate and detailed experimental records in electronic lab notebooks Additional Responsibilities: Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment Prepare and present data summaries and reports Participate in team discussions and scientific meetings Qualifications Master’s degree in Biology or related field with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of experience Minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience, preferably in an industry setting Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture required Experience with primary human cells and/or cell line engineering is a plus Familiarity with molecular and cell-based assays (e.g., qPCR, ELISA, Western blot, flow cytometry) Strong understanding of cell and molecular biology principles Ability to work independently and troubleshoot experiments of moderate complexity Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate in a team environment Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a fast-paced setting Preferred Skills Experience working with hematopoietic cells Exposure to gene editing technologies (e.g., CRISPR/Cas systems) Demonstrated attention to detail and strong documentation practices
