This structured apprenticeship provides progressive training and real-world experience supporting automation projects, troubleshooting equipment, and maintaining manufacturing systems.The apprentice will work alongside experienced Controls Technicians and Engineers to gain practical knowledge in PLC programming, robotics, electrical systems, and automation integration while completing formal coursework and competency milestones.Job DescriptionKey ResponsibilitiesAssist with installation and integration of automated systems, robotics, and manufacturing equipmentSupport troubleshooting of production issues involving PLCs, robotics, and electrical systemsHelp maintain and back up programs for automated equipment and control systemsParticipate in preventive and predictive maintenance activities for automation systemsAssist in implementing automation upgrades and continuous improvement initiativesWork with cross-functional teams to reduce downtime, scrap, and inefficienciesSupport documentation of system changes, maintenance records, and troubleshooting effortsLearn to read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, and technical documentsFollow all safety procedures including LOTO and electrical safety standardsRequired Skills And EducationRequired Skills & QualificationsBasic understanding of electrical or mechanical systemsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilityInterest in automation, robotics, and manufacturing technologyAbility to use hand tools and basic testing equipmentGood communication and teamwork skillsWillingness to learn and complete required coursework and certificationsPreferred QualificationsExposure to PLCs, robotics, or industrial maintenanceAbility to read electrical schematics (or willingness to learn)Experience with manufacturing or technical environmentsAbout AAMAs a leading global Tier 1 Automotive and Mobility Supplier, AAM designs, engineers and manufactures Driveline and Metal Forming technologies to support electric, hybrid and internal combustion vehicles.
