Project Manager - HVAC/Mechanical Construction Project Manager - HVAC/Mechanical Construction Position Overview We are seeking a results-driven Project Manager to lead HVAC and mechanical construction projects from pre-construction through commissioning. The Project Manager will be responsible for delivering projects on time, within budget, and to quality and safety standards. This role requires technical knowledge of HVAC systems, hydronic piping, and mechanical construction practices, plus strong leadership, communication, and client-facing skills. Key Responsibilities Plan, manage and execute HVAC and mechanical construction projects from pre-construction through closeout, ensuring schedule, budget and quality objectives are met. Develop and maintain project schedules, forecasts and CPM updates; drive schedule adherence through proactive planning and resource management. Prepare and manage project budgets, track costs, approve invoices, and proactively control change orders to protect project margins. Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, trades and on-site labor; issue scopes of work, monitor performance and ensure contract compliance. Coordinate mechanical system installation including hydronic piping, ductwork, equipment set, piping supports and connections to ensure constructability and code compliance. Review and coordinate mechanical drawings, specifications and shop drawings; work closely with design teams and engineers to resolve technical issues and RFIs. Oversee quality control and testing procedures; lead commissioning, start-up activities and punch-list resolution to ensure systems operate to design intent. Enforce safety programs and site-specific safety plans; conduct safety meetings, inspections and ensure compliance with OSHA and company policies. Manage procurement of major equipment, materials and long-lead items; interface with vendors and expeditors to meet project schedules. Prepare and present regular progress reports to clients, owners and internal leadership; maintain thorough project documentation and records. Manage client relationships, address concerns, negotiate contract changes and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum 5 years of project management experience in HVAC/mechanical construction with demonstrated delivery of medium-to-large projects. Hands-on experience with hydronic piping systems, chilled/hot water systems, pumps, valves and related mechanical equipment. Knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical codes, ASHRAE standards, NFPA and local building codes. Proven ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications and shop drawings. Experience with project management and construction management software (MS Project, Procore or similar); familiarity with BIM/Revit is a plus. Strong leadership, communication and negotiation skills with the ability to coordinate interdisciplinary teams and subcontractors. Solid financial acumen with experience managing budgets, cost forecasting and change order control. OSHA 30-hour certification or equivalent preferred; PMP or CCM certification a plus. Valid drivers license and ability to travel to project sites as required.
