Principal Substation Engineer

We are supporting a major transmission utility on a critical project and are looking for a highly experienced Substation Physical Design Engineer to join on a long-term contract.This is a remote opportunity with an initial onboarding period onsite to align with the team.What you’ll be doing:Leading physical design for high-voltage substations (up to 500kV)Producing and reviewing detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and construction packagesSupporting heavy civil, structural, and mechanical design aspects of substationsPerforming grounding design and lightning protection calculationsSupporting design reviews, engineering studies, and material evaluationsContributing to design standards and best practices across projectsWhat we’re looking for:10+ years of substation physical design experienceStrong experience with 500kV substations (breaker-and-a-half preferred)Heavy AutoCAD experienceBackground in civil, structural, and mechanical design within substationsExperience with grounding and lightning protection designAbility to lead projects and mentor junior engineersEngineering degree required (Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical)PE preferredProject Details:12-month contract (high likelihood of extension)Remote (initial onsite onboarding required)Competitive hourly rateIf you’re interested or know someone who is a fit, reach out directly or apply here.
