Network Engineer Why This is an Exciting Role:The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization, Intelligence Systems portfolio, is seeking a DevOps Developer to join our Mission Operations team in Herndon, VA. Our team focuses on delivering complex solutions in some of the most challenging environments on Earth. We provide support for our Mission Operations Portfolio area which design, build, test, deploy, operate, and maintain a wide variety of mission critical platforms and systems for commercial and government customers.This Network Engineer position performs complex networking in a hybrid on-premise/cloud environment with intricate networking requirements.Architect and maintain hybrid network connectivity between on-premise clusters and cloud environments, ensuring low-latency, high-bandwidth,and secure communicationDeploy and manage virtual networking components such as VLANs, VXLANs, VPCs, Transit Gateways, Direct Connect, and micro-segmentationand traffic isolation in a multi-tenant environmentUtilize monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch) to proactively identify and resolve network performance bottlenecks, latencyissues, and packet lossConfigure and enforce security policies, including firewalls, security groups, network ACLs, and Flow policies, to ensure isolation and compliancewith security best practicesConfigure and troubleshoot multicast traffic, BGP, OSPF, and PIM for dynamic routing and efficient data distribution across the hybrid environmentLeverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation to automate the provisioning, configuration, andmanagement of network infrastructureDesign and maintain logical network segmentation to ensure isolation, scalability, and compliance with enterprise authorization and accreditationpracticesConfigure and test network failover mechanisms, including redundant Direct Connect links, cluster replication, and cross-AZ failover, to ensurehigh availability and business continuityWork closely with cloud architects, administrators, and DevOps teams to integrate networking solutions with AWS services and containerizedworkloadsCreate and update detailed network diagrams, runbooks, and operational documentation to support troubleshooting, audits, and knowledgetransfer in a dynamic environmentWhat Makes BI&A Different:As a fully owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, BI&A offers an optimal mix of a small company environment with exceptional opportunities supported by a large corporation.Every day, Boeing Intelligence & Analytics supports global missions by building and delivering intelligence, analytics, and cyber solutions that enable users to advance national security. Experience and Qualifications:To be eligible for this demanding position, the ideal candidate should demonstrate the following experience and qualifications:Required Education and Years of Experience:L3: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience, 9 years' related work experience, etc.).L4: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience, 13 years' related work experience, etc.)Required Qualifications: Requires an active TS/SCI with Polygraph Clearance (Has been active in the past 24 months)U.S. CitizenshipExperience managing and maintaining physical (Cisco) and virtual networking devicesIn-depth knowledge and experience with network segmentation and complex routing across networksAdvanced troubleshooting skills and problem-solving abilities and able to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues with critical thinkingFamiliarity with cloud (AWS and/or Azure) and/or virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, and/or Nutanix AHVExperience with network automation tools in enterprise environmentsDesired Qualifications: Experience with automation tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, AnsibleExperience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and/or GCPCertifications in Cisco networkingTelework/Remote Availability: Telework/Remote work currently not authorizedWork Location(s): Herndon, VASummary Pay Range:Please note that the information shown below is a general guideline only.
