ABOUT TEMPEST Tempest brings a distinct vision of South Atlantic seafood to historic Charleston. Nestled along the cobblestones of Market Street beneath a breathtaking 700-square-foot handmade mosaic ceiling, we offer an elevated yet soulful dining experience rooted in the Lowcountry. Our menu celebrates fresh oysters from the local coast, beautifully prepared regional fish, stunning seafood towers, and charcoal-roasted whole fish — all sourced from the country’s most responsible fishermen and purveyors. Our beverage program pairs handcrafted cocktails, a curated wine list, and thoughtfully selected beers to complete the experience. THE ROLE We are seeking a seasoned, guest-focused server who brings both polish and genuine warmth to the table. This is a career hospitality position — not a stepping stone. You will be part of a team that takes pride in providing a dining experience that is both technically refined and deeply personal. Candidates with key-holding or floor management experience are strongly encouraged to apply. COMPENSATION Training rate: $10/hr during paid training shifts After training: $2.13/hr base wage plus tips (South Carolina tipped minimum wage) Consistently high-earning opportunity in a high-volume fine dining environment RESPONSIBILITIES Welcome and engage guests with professionalism, warmth, and a thorough knowledge of the menu Guide guests through the food and beverage experience — from oyster selection and seafood preparations to cocktail and wine pairings Execute accurate and efficient service using Toast POS Maintain an expert understanding of all current menu items, daily specials, and ingredient sourcing Anticipate guest needs, resolve concerns gracefully, and ensure every table leaves with a lasting impression Collaborate closely with culinary and bar teams to ensure seamless, synchronized service Uphold Tempest’s standards for food safety, sanitation, and dining room presentation throughout every shift Support sidework, opening, and closing duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS Minimum 2 years of experience in a fine dining or upscale restaurant environment Strong knowledge of seafood, wine, and craft cocktails Proficiency with Toast POS or comparable point-of-sale systems Full schedule availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays Exceptional communication skills and a guest-first mindset Ability to remain composed, organized, and attentive during high-volume service Key-holding or floor manager experience is a significant plus WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR The ideal candidate is career-driven, detail-oriented, and genuinely passionate about hospitality.
