Cohesity Resident Engineer (Chicago)
CMK Resources is seeking a Cohesity Resident Engineer in Chicago to join our growing team! In this role, you will take ownership of a high-performance Cohesity environment as a dedicated, onsite engineer supporting a key enterprise client in downtown Chicago. In this role, you will act as the primary point of contact for all Cohesity-related operations, ensuring stability, performance, and security across critical data protection systems. You will work hands-on with all-flash Cohesity clusters , supporting advanced capabilities including cyber resilience (Fort Knox) and file services (SmartFiles) . This is a highly visible role where your expertise directly impacts business continuity and data security. What You’ll Be Responsible For Manage and maintain two all-flash Cohesity clusters in a production environment Monitor backup jobs, SLAs, and system health to ensure consistent performance and reliability Troubleshoot backup, restore, and replication issues across enterprise workloads Support and optimize Cohesity Fort Knox for cyber recovery and ransomware protection Administer and support SmartFiles (NAS/file services) including NFS/SMB workloads Perform upgrades, patching, and system maintenance activities Partner with client stakeholders to provide recommendations on performance, capacity, and best practices Act as the onsite Cohesity SME , communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical teams Maintain documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures What You Bring Must have current hands-on experience supporting Cohesity DataProtect in a production environment Experience with Cohesity Fort Knox or similar cyber vault solutions Strong understanding of enterprise backup and recovery concepts (SLA policies, retention, replication, DR) Experience managing backup failures, restores, and system troubleshooting Familiarity with NAS/file services (NFS, SMB) or similar storage platforms Exposure to cyber recovery, immutable backups, or ransomware protection strategies Ability to work independently in a client-facing, onsite role Strong communication skills and ability to represent technical solutions clearly Nice to Have: Background with other backup platforms (NetBackup, Commvault, Veeam, Rubrik) Experience in enterprise or highly regulated environments Work Environment 100% onsite in downtown Chicago, IL Collaborative, enterprise-scale environment with high visibility and impact Compensation $72/hour (W2 no C2C options are available at this time) Why This Role Work directly with modern data protection technologies in a mission-critical environment Gain hands-on experience with advanced features like cyber recovery and file services Take ownership of a highly visible platform where your expertise drives real impact Be the go-to expert in a dedicated client-facing role
