Tips: Provide a summary of the role, what success in the position looks like, and how this role fits into the organization overallPosition: AVEVA Wonderware Lead EngineerLocation: Richmond, VA – OnsiteExperience: 8–10 YearsStart Date: Immediate AvailabilityBackground Check: MANDATORYJob OverviewWe are seeking an experienced AVEVA Wonderware Lead Engineer to lead the design, development, implementation, migration, and support of industrial automation, SCADA, HMI, Historian, and MES solutions using the AVEVA/Wonderware product suite.The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with AVEVA System Platform, InTouch, Historian, Operations/Integration, and industrial communication technologies. This role will work closely with manufacturing, operations, engineering, and IT teams to deliver reliable and scalable manufacturing digitalization solutions across production environments.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the architecture, design, development, deployment, and maintenance of AVEVA/Wonderware industrial automation and MES/SCADA solutions.Design and implement solutions using AVEVA System Platform, InTouch, Historian, and Operations/Integration.Assess existing AVEVA System Platform 2023 R2 SP1 environments and determine system, infrastructure, software, and licensing requirements.Install, configure, and validate AVEVA System Platform 2023 R2 SP1, including licensing and system prerequisites.Assess legacy Wonderware/AVEVA System Platform 2014 R2 environments and identify integration touchpoints with external systems and OEM OPC providers.Develop migration strategies for production environments, including system assessment, technical planning, testing, validation, and deployment.Troubleshoot I/O connectivity, OPC communication, System Platform components, and industrial data integration issues.Gather technical and functional requirements from manufacturing, plant operations, engineering, and business stakeholders.Develop scalable, reliable, and maintainable automation and manufacturing digitalization solutions.Lead code reviews, testing, system validation, deployment planning, and production cutover activities.Execute production cutovers in accordance with established change management and operational procedures.Coordinate with cross-functional teams and external vendors/OEMs during implementation and troubleshooting.Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineering/automation team members.Support production environments and participate in after-hours/weekend cutovers and critical troubleshooting when required.Document system architecture, configurations, migration plans, troubleshooting procedures, and operational processes.Required Technical Skills8–10 years of experience in industrial automation, SCADA, MES, or manufacturing systems.Strong hands-on experience with AVEVA/Wonderware technologies.Expertise in AVEVA System Platform.Experience with AVEVA System Platform 2023 R2 SP1.Experience with Wonderware/AVEVA System Platform 2014 R2.Strong knowledge of InTouch, Historian, Operations/Integration.Experience with SCADA and HMI architecture and development.Experience troubleshooting I/O connectivity and OPC communications.Experience integrating System Platform with OEM OPC providers/external systems.Experience with system migration, production cutover, deployment, and change management.Strong understanding of industrial/manufacturing environments and plant-floor systems.Ability to work independently during production deployments and outside normal business hours when required.Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate is a senior AVEVA/Wonderware technical lead who can work across both legacy Wonderware and modern AVEVA System Platform environments, independently assess existing production systems, develop migration strategies, troubleshoot plant-floor connectivity, and lead successful production implementations.
