Sr. Electrical Engineer
Sr. Electrical Engineer Location: Houston, Tx Description: The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for delivering electrical engineering work across feasibility studies, process design packages, and detailed engineering activities. The role operates within a project task force team and may act as a technical or project lead for electrical scope execution.This position applies advanced electrical engineering knowledge to develop power system designs, perform system studies, and support equipment specification and procurement while ensuring compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and safety objectives. Functional Responsibilities:Perform electrical engineering activities across:Feasibility studiesProcess design packagesDetailed engineering phasesPrepare electrical engineering deliverables, including:Load summariesSingle-line diagramsProtection diagramsPerform electrical studies, including:Load flow analysisShort circuit analysisTransient motor starting studiesProtection relay coordination and settingsUtilize power system analysis tools such as ETAP and SKMPrepare electrical equipment specifications, datasheets, and work packagesConduct technical bid evaluations and review vendor drawingsDevelop electrical designs, including:Substation layoutsSchematicsWiring diagramsSupport selection and specification of equipment such as:SwitchgearTransformersMotors and generatorsMotor Control Centers (MCCs)Leadership / Management Responsibilities:Act as electrical discipline lead or project lead on assigned tasksProvide technical oversight and guidance to junior engineersCoordinate work across multidisciplinary engineering teamsSupport planning, scheduling, and execution of electrical scopeInterface with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholdersCompliance / Operational Responsibilities:Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, including:NECIECANSIIEEEAPINEMAMaintain quality and accuracy of engineering deliverablesEnsure alignment with project scope, schedule, and budgetSupport safe and reliable electrical system designRequired Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)Minimum 10 years of experience in:PetrochemicalRefiningRenewablesPower generation projectsStrong knowledge of electrical system design and analysisExperience with ETAP, SKM, or similar toolsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsPreferred Qualifications:Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) licenseExperience acting as technical or project leadExperience across full project lifecycleRole Specific Knowledge & Skills:Strong understanding of power systems engineeringAbility to perform electrical studies and system analysisKnowledge of applicable codes and standardsAbility to prepare and review technical documentationStrong leadership and coordination capabilitiesAbility to work independently and within teamsStrong communication and stakeholder engagement skillsCommitment to quality, safety, and engineering excellenceWorking Conditions:Collaboration with multidisciplinary project teamsAdditional Information: No sponsorship or relocation assistance available.Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
