Teacher - Elementary (5th Grade)

ELEMENTARY TEACHER - 5th GRADEDIERINGER HEIGHTS ELEMENTARYInterested and qualified internal and external candidates are invited to apply for a full time intermediate teacher position at Dieringer Heights Elementary School.JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIESPlan, implement, and evaluate effective classroom instruction consistent with building and district curriculum/programsParticipate in team planning, programming, and instructional activities focused on improving instructional practices and student learningDiagnose and prescribe learning and training programs for individual students based on aptitude, interest, and level to achieveDevelop Instructional Goals and objectives to meet teaching assignmentUtilize district and state standards in developing curriculumRecognize individual students' needs and provide appropriate strategies and interventionsFoster and maintain a safe, positive learning environmentCooperate with building principal and staff in implementation of comprehensive instructional and activities programsPrepare teaching materials and reports (e.g. grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) for the purpose of implementing lesson plans and providing documentation of teacher and student progressCommunicate effectively with parents and the school communityServe as a cooperative member of the instructional teamUse and integrate educationally relevant technologyParticipate in building and district in-service education/training programsAttend building/district meetings and conferences as requiredKnow and observe safety procedures; maintain safe working conditions; comply with safety rules and regulationsOther duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONSAbility to integrate classroom technology into instructional methodologyStrong interpersonal communication skills for interaction with students, staff and parentsAbility to work successfully with intermediate level studentsFamiliarity with 4th grade curriculum and curriculum-based assessmentsAbility to understand and apply curriculum standards for 4th gradeAbility to articulate strategies and structures that will allow for differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students in a heterogenous classStrength in classroom management, curriculum design, instruction, and assessmentExcellent technology skills and ability to use and incorporate computers and technology into curriculumStrong interpersonal and communication skills and a willingness to build partnerships with school, home, and communityInterest in joining a team of professional educators who possess commitment to integrated studies, high student achievement, and personal excellenceDESIRED QUALIFICATIONSStrong academic credentials, acquired instructional skills, and knowledge of best practices in primary educationEvidence of training and/or experience in teaching reading and math, cooperative learning, performance-based assessment, including students on IEP's and teaching to diverse populationsAbility to be a team player with excellent classroom management skills, communication skills, and organizational skillStrong interpersonal skills with ability and willingness to work on a professional teamExcellent technology skills and ability to use and incorporate computers/technology into curriculumREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSSuccessful completion of a WSP/FBI background checkWA State Teaching Certificate with elementary endorsementPHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:Ability to lift 25 pounds (e.g. classroom materials, student assistance)Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the school dayFrequent bending, stooping, kneeling and reachingAdequate vision and hearing to supervise students and maintain a safe environmentAbility to actively monitor and respond to student behavior in classrooms, playgrounds, and other school settingsFine motor skills for writing, typing, and instructional tasksCapability to respond quickly in emergency situationsJob requires daily work in noisy and active environments both indoors and outdoors.RESPONSIBLE TO: PrincipalBENEFITS:Calendar - 184 day, 7.5 hours per dayHealth benefits - SEBBPaid Time Off (Personal, Family Illness, and Sick)Attendance Incentive (PTO cash out/rollover)Other Employment Benefits per Dieringer Education Association (DEA) Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)ATTACHMENTS:Letter of InterestCurrent ResumeThree (3) letters of recommendationTranscripts
