This role will establish the strategy for an organizations high-level data systems and frameworks. Success in the role will require working closely with engineers, analysts, and business leaders to align data solutions with strategic goals. The Engineer IT Data Architect will be part of the Electric Boat Corporation Enterprise Technical Architecture team and be included in broader IT application architecture governanceResponsibilitiesDesign the vision, data blueprints and frameworks to ensure a comprehensive data architectureDefine data modeling and governance standardsTranslate business needs into technical data requirements and creating a roadmaps for how data will be collected, store, processed and utilized across the enterpriseOversee the integration of disperse data sources and systemsDesigning ETL (extract, transform, load) or ETL processes to ensure seamless and efficient data flowEnsure data quality, consistency, integrity and complianceMonitor and optimize data system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement new technologies to realize efficienciesCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including data modelers, developers, analysts, and business partnersResponsibilitiesStrategic thinking and long-term planningDatabase and data modeling experienceBusiness acumenPossessing a blend of technical and analytical skillsQualificationsRequired:* Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering* 5+ years of post graduate experience in system design, data modeling and/or enterprise architecturePreferred:* Proficiency working within a highly regulated industry such as Federal, State, Finance, Health-careor Life Sciences* Experience reducing complex topics and distilling them into management level summaries for non-technical audiences
