Senior Process Development Engineer
Jupiter Volta Inc. is a fast-growing startup that is pioneering developments in the fusion and applied plasma industry. We seek a skilled Senior Process Development Engineer to develop, oversee, and manage all aspects of the testing and development process for an advanced fusion technology machine. In this role you will lead and own the testing and development of new technology. This role is critical to ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of industrial and scientific equipment. You will work with different applications for use of our plasma technology to ensure success of varied projects. The successful candidate will be confident to perform hands-on mechanical configurations and be a strategic thinker, an engaged leader, and an expert in hardware testing and development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop gas phase chemistry methods in a novel plasma system
Operate and perform experimentation using novel plasma machinery
Develop processes on equipment to achieve new objectives, test new hardware designs, and improve operational efficiency and reliability
Use collected data to make recommendations and predictions of system performance under new conditions
Evaluate data created by experimentation by other team members
Perform basic analysis of heat, flow, fluid dynamics, etc. in fluid handling systems
Create data displays, and communicate results of experiments to team
Troubleshoot non compliant machine behavior, work with maintenance and hardware engineering to achieve high uptime and continuous improvement
Qualifications:
Degree in engineering, (mechanical, materials, or chemical) or similar
5+ years experience with hands operations and process development work in high tech industrial equipment (material processing, semiconductor formation, etc.).
Experience developing, starting up, testing, and deploying new processes to high uptime operational environments
Strong problem solving
Ability to effectively triage engineering tasks
Bonus Skills:
Deep operational knowledge of modern data plotting software (jmp, etc.)
PLC or industrial control system knowledge
Gas phase chemistry experience
Experience with vacuum, fluid handling systems, or plasma systems
Programming experience (Python, C, C++)

This job is an in-office position at our Berkeley office.
