Software Development Engineer - Shopping Personalization AI, Amazon Stores

Overview In this role you will design and deliver production AI features that power personalized product discovery at Amazon scale. You’ll collaborate with Product and Science teams to define experiences, run experiments, and iterate based on data. You help build reliable, scalable AI-powered experiences that improve engagement and retention. This position offers ownership, fast iteration, and the opportunity to shape how customers discover products using generative AI and large-scale systems. ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, test, and operate AI-powered features used across teams at scaleDeliver end-to-end solutions with emphasis on maintainability, scalability, performance, and reliabilityCollaborate with Product and Science to define experiences, run experiments, and iterate on dataBuild AI-driven experiences including personalized recommendations, relevance explanations, and knowledge-driven features with LLMsDefine and implement measurement strategies with analytics events and experiment configurationsNavigate ambiguity and make technically sound decisions in non-patterned problem spaces Key requirementsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field5+ years of non-internship software development experienceProficiency in at least one modern language (Java, C++, or C#) with OO designExperience with full software development lifecycle: coding standards, reviews, source control, builds, testing, operationsContribution to architecture and design focusing on reliability and scalabilityclear communicationownership and accountabilitymentoring junior developersServer-side rendering (SSR) and performance-oriented UI patterns (preferred)Experimentation (A/B testing) and analytics instrumentationGenerative AI / AI-ML integration and applications
