Construction Equipment Operator
Job Description
Operate excavator using foot and hand controls and sometimes maneuver them in tight spaces
Enter the cab of a vehicle that is 3.5 feet off the ground
Routinely inspect safety equipment, lights, horns, and cooling equipment before starting vehicle
Load trucks to maximize the use of space and distribute weight accordingly, and to ensure safety on the road
Fuel heavy equipment
Lubricates and greases heavy equipment such as articulated loaders and backhoes
Inspects tires for wear and proper inflation
Visually inspects vehicles for mechanical defects and reports findings to appropriate personnel
Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
Lift arms above shoulder level (i.e., enters the cab of a vehicle, uses a steam cleaner
Climb ladders or steps to reach objects
Understand and follow oral and written instruction in the English language
Work cooperatively with other employees and the public
Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others
