Commercial Lawyer This is a remote position. We are seeking an experienced Commercial Lawyer to take full ownership of client matters within a dynamic and commercially focused legal practice. This role is designed for a lawyer who values autonomy, sound judgment, and the ability to manage legal work end-to-end without unnecessary hierarchy. The position involves advising on franchising, commercial, and small business matters, with a strong emphasis on delivering clear, practical, and commercially grounded legal advice. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing client relationships, legal strategy, and transactional work, while contributing to the firm's continued growth and operational excellence. This is a senior, high-trust position suited to a lawyer who thrives in a modern, technology-enabled environment and is comfortable working independently while maintaining high professional standards.ResponsibilitiesManage full carriage of client matters from initial consultation through to resolutionDraft, review, and negotiate a range of commercial agreements, including franchise agreements, leases, licensing, and distribution contractsProvide strategic legal advice with a strong focus on commercial risk and practical outcomesAdvise franchisors and franchisees on legal obligations, structuring, and complianceHandle property and leasing matters, including retail and commercial leasesRepresent clients in alternative dispute resolution processes, including mediationsBuild and maintain strong client relationships across a range of industriesContribute to the development of internal processes, systems, and legal standardsSupport and, as the team grows, help lead junior lawyers and support staffUtilize legal technology and practice management systems to drive efficiency and accuracyRequirementsAbility to work autonomously and take full ownership of legal mattersHigh level of professionalism, attention to detail, and accountabilityStrong organizational and time management skillsComfortable working in a technology-driven legal environment (Office 365 and practice management systems such as Actionstep, Leap, Clio, or Smokeball)Ability to balance independent work with collaborative team contributionQualificationsUndergraduate degree in Law with a current practising certificate4–10 years' post-admission experienceDemonstrated experience in franchising, SME advisory, or commercial lawStrong experience in property and leasing, licensing, and distribution agreementsSolid understanding of Australian Consumer Law and its practical applicationExperience in dispute resolution or litigation is advantageous but not essentialStrong commercial judgment and ability to provide clear, actionable legal adviceExcellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skillsProven ability to manage matters independently and efficientlyBenefitsOpportunity for 100% remote workCompetitive compensation packageAccess to advanced legal operations and contract management toolsIf you are passionate about leveraging your commercial legal expertise to support innovative legal teams and dynamic businesses, while accelerating your professional growth in a remote-first environment — apply now!
