Performs job for the age population served, as defined in the department's scope of service.Perform nutritional assessments, including reviewing medical nutrition therapy orders, interpreting lab values, and interviewing patients regarding food habits and preferencesDevelop and implement individualized plans of care based on nutritional assessments and in coordination with other healthcare plansRecommend oral diets, tube feedings, and total parenteral nutrition, including calorie and protein requirementsAccurately document nutrition assessments, interventions, and patient interactions in the medical recordProvide ongoing nutrition evaluation through communication with the healthcare team regarding dietary history, intake adequacy, education, and supplementation needsMonitor meals for compliance with prescribed diets and patient needs, including allergies, intolerances, preferences, and religious considerationsProvide nutrition education and counseling to patients, families, and staff using approved materials and methodsServe as a nutrition resource for medical and nursing staff and conduct nutrition education classes as neededPerform all other duties as assignedWhat Sets BRG Apart: At Baton Rouge General, we are a community of compassionate, caring individuals who set the bar when it comes to healthcare excellence.
