Hartford/Sumner Elementary School(PK-5) in Sumner, ME is looking for a Music Teacher #020,#614 Certification/Endorsement to work as part of our education team. We will consider Conditional certfications, if you haven't earned your full Professional certification.An Elementary Music Teacher provides engaging, developmentally appropriate music education to students (PreK-5), focusing on singing, playing instruments (percussion, recorders), creative movement, and foundational theory. They foster a positive, inclusive environment, manage classroom behavior, and produce musical performances for the school community.Core ResponsibilitiesInstructional Delivery: Teach music curriculum including rhythm, melody, and music history to elementary levels.Performance & Ensemble: Plan and direct school concerts, assemblies, and community events.Curriculum Development: Implement active music-making techniques (e.g., Orff, Kodály) to encourage participation.Student Assessment: Evaluate students on progress reports and monitor musical growth.Classroom Management: Create a safe, structured, and engaging learning atmosphere.Collaboration: Work with classroom teachers to support their instructional themes and student needs.We are looking for professionals who love kids!We are 45 minutes from Lewiston/Auburn and 90 minutes from Portland.
