We are looking for a hard-working individual who enjoys working outdoors to join our Construction Services team out of Myrtle Beach or Florence, South Carolina, as an entry-level Construction Materials Professional.Visit the Life tab on our LinkedIn profile to learn more about life at S&ME.What You Will Do:As an entry-level Construction Materials Professional, you are vital in guaranteeing the integrity and safety of construction endeavors by evaluating and confirming the characteristics and quality of materials used.Testing construction materials: Perform tests and oversee special inspections of materials such as soil, concrete, asphalt, and others to ensure they meet project specifications and industry standards. Analyzing construction plans and specifications: Verify that they align with project goals before conducting field observations. Recording and managing field activities: Document detailed observations and test results during project execution, using Metafield® or other management systems daily for efficient data handling and coordination. Preparing reports and proposals: Help draft reports and proposals for smaller projects, ensuring thorough and accurate assessments and documentation. Communicating daily: Interact with management, contractors, and clients to maintain project transparency and provide regular updates on progress.Who We're Looking For:We're looking for someone eager to learn, adaptable, and committed to doing things right. A strong sense of safety, integrity, and teamwork is essential, along with the curiosity to gain new certifications and grow professionally.Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a similar technical fieldExperience: 0-2 years of experience in construction materials testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphaltCertifications: You are willing to obtain at least one (1) industry certification within 6 months of employmentKey CompetenciesBasic math and communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English languageWorking Conditions and Physical Demands:This role involves hands-on work in outdoor environments, and with Company-provided Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), you'll need to be comfortable with:Working outdoors in varying weather conditionsWalking over rough, uneven terrain and standing (potentially up to 12 hours a day)Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment)Maneuvering field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground around active construction sitesWorking outside of normal business hours and traveling (typically out-of-town and/or overnight) as project needs ariseWe Are S&ME:At S&ME, we're committed to your growth, professionally and personally.
