Are you passionate about working with children and ensuring their safety and well-being? Capitol Language Services (CLS) is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team as After-School Instructors for SY 2025-2026. As an After-School Instructor, you will play a crucial role in providing a supportive and engaging environment for children during their after-school hours. We work with children PreK 3 - 5th grade.
Please note this position starts August 25, 2025 - this is not a summer position.
Key Responsibilities:
Required availability Monday to Friday 3:00 to 6:00 PM. No partial weeks.
Engage and teach children various activities, such as arts and crafts, STEM, homework and monitor playground and snack time.
Ensure safety, inclusivity and prevent bullying during the program hours.
Adhere strictly to assigned schedules and notify any errors or inconsistencies.
Take attendance during every transition.
Manage student allergies and medical needs.
Additional Responsibilities:
Follow protocols for inclement weather, ensuring activities are engaging and screen-free.
Monitor bathroom breaks.
Resolve minor behavioral issues by fostering peaceful resolutions.
Report conflicts and incidents promptly to the Program Coordinator and complete incident reports.
Set up, clean and store activity materials in assigned spaces.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Must be at least 18 years old.
At least 1 year experience in childcare.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience and ability to handle various learning abilities.
Good references from previous employers.
Must be willing to undergo a DCPS background check.
Location:
You will be assigned to ONE of our 4 locations in NW DC.
