Research and Innovation Technician II
About The RoleThe Research & Innovation Technician II, reporting to the Research & Innovation Manager, will be responsible for assisting with the product development cycle by researching, conducting experiments, and gathering data. The role will be heavily involved in producing and analyzing pilot/prototype products from start to finish. This technician role will be vital to the Research and Innovation department’s every-day operation, growth, synergy, and overall success.Prepare and analyze product prototypes. Maintain accurate, detailed, and complete records. Conduct sampling, testing, and additional experiments on finish products as well as raw materials. Efficiently and accurately submit external samples for various analysis. Understand and utilize Concept 5 Formulation Software and Safefood 360.Complete basic market, ingredient, and product research.Maintain and manage R&I ingredient inventory and laboratory testing results.Requires physical labor with the ability to lift ≤60 pounds. Draft and update procedures, SOP’s, OPL’s, specifications, and other related documentation.About YouBachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Animal Nutrition, Food Technology, or related studies) preferred.One to three years of relevant work experience. Ability to plan, prioritize, manage, and complete multiple tasks effectively and efficiently.Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.Work with lab equipment under limited supervision.Demonstrate the ability to communicate well and to effectively influence and interact with others to accomplish research goals.Work safely, complying with all safety, quality and sanitation policies and procedures and proactively identify and report potential safety hazards so they can be corrected.Proficient in using computers (e.g. Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).Travel up to 10% including relevant conferences and R&I trialsPhysical RequirementsThis position will be required to work frequently indoors, in a laboratory setting, in a production setting, and in an office setting.Exposure to manufacturing environments for periodically extended workdays to include loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, and slippery conditions.
