Backend Engineer | $75/hr Remote
Position: Software Engineer – Agentic AI / Data CloudType: Contract (6 months)Location: RemoteCommitment: 40 hrs/week with 6 hours overlap with PSTCompensation: $50–$75 per hourRole ResponsibilitiesDevelop and enhance MCP tools for AI systems and data cloud environmentsBuild backend tools using Python or Go for agentic AI and developer workflowsWork with SQL and database systems to build and manage data-driven solutionsImprove integrations and workflows for AI coding assistants and agentic developer toolsRefactor and optimize existing systems for scalability, maintainability, and performanceExpand testing coverage for AI-driven tools, asynchronous systems, and backend workflowsBuild APIs, CLI tools, automation workflows, and developer-focused toolingConvert technical concepts, blogs, and prototypes into production-ready code samples and documentationDevelop real-world data applications to support experimentation, product R&D, and Data Cloud initiativesCollaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to improve AI-integrated systemsRequirementsBackground in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fieldStrong software engineering experienceStrong proficiency in Python or Go, ideally bothSolid experience with SQL and database systemsPrior experience working in Google3 or Google engineering environmentsExperience building or contributing to agentic AI systems and AI-assisted workflowsHands-on experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Gemini CLI, or similar toolsStrong coding, debugging, testing, and software design skillsExperience maintaining and refactoring scalable production codebasesFamiliarity with asynchronous systems, developer tooling, APIs, and backend integrationsAbility to write clear technical documentation and developer-focused examplesGood analytical, problem-solving, and system design skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently in a remote contract setupApplication ProcessApply / Easy Apply & check email for assessment linkFill Application formInternal resume reviewAdditional evaluation steps, if shortlistedFinal selection
