Psychiatrist - 0.4 FTE - The Residence

Position SummaryA part-time opportunity is available for a Psychiatrist at The Residence at Homewood, starting in June.In this role, the Psychiatrist will deliver on-site, evidence-based psychiatric care for individuals living with depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, and concurrent disorders. Working collaboratively within a dedicated interdisciplinary team, including Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Addiction Counselling, Art Therapy, Recreation Therapy, Strength & Conditioning, and 24/7 Nursing, the Psychiatrist will play a key role in comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, individualized treatment planning, and clinical oversight throughout the client's stay.What you'll be doing:Clinically responsible for assigned patients including admission, assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, referral, daily care, and discharge.Clinical care includes diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders, medication management, referral to the Interventional Psychiatry Service (ECT, rTMS, Ketamine infusion) when appropriate, as well as the interdisciplinary team for individual support return to work planning, and psychotherapeutic interventionsProvide ongoing supervision and management of clinical/patient care including daily rounds and sufficient individual assessments with the patient to ensure ongoing standards of patient care are metCollaborate with other physicians, nursing staff and allied health professionals in providing optimal patient care within an interdisciplinary teamComplete documentation including admission history, mental status, diagnostic impression, treatment plan, weekly progress notes and finally, a comprehensive discharge summary of the highest quality to ensure the medical record is meaningful and useful and a treatment plan can be established by the teamUtilize electronic medical platforms such as Caseworks and BDM (training provided)Provide clinical guidance to the program and to the admitting department for appropriate and timely referrals and admissionsEnsure best practice standards of clinical care are implemented and maintainedSupport colleagues with patient coverage during physician absencesComplete and submit OHIP billings in a timely mannerAbility to provide ECT treatment to patients at the Homewood Health Centre approximately once per month is an assetLiaison with third party referrers as needed for continuity of care (VAC, WSIB)What we are looking for:A specialist certification in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent body acceptable to the Royal College and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)Experience with diagnosis and management of, complex psychiatric disorders and comorbid mental health and substance use disorders is preferredInterest to work with complex and comorbid disorders as well as ongoing learning and teaching to continually enhance patient careAdept at creating an environment that supports team spirit and collaboration across the organizationInspire others to be accountable through action, decisions and/or communicationStrong ability to create exceptional relationships with clients, patients, customersStrong ability to negotiate and influence with proven critical thinking, analysis and complex problem solving skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsHighly developed organizational and time-management skillsDemonstrated commitment to infection prevention and control needs of the hospitalWorking knowledge of Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a welcomed assetAs part of our commitment to the health and safety of our patients, staff and community from COVID-19, subject to any accommodation required by applicable human rights legislation, Homewood Health Centre requires that all staff have received all required doses of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by Health Canada.Why work with us?Work in one of Canada's most exclusive private mental health settings, offering care in a discreet, luxury environmentEnjoy small caseloads that support truly individualizedCollaborate within a highly skilled, interdisciplinary team in a well-resourced settingPlay a meaningful role in improving the lives of Canadians and their families through compassionate, evidence-based careEnjoy thoughtfully prepared, on-site meals prepared by The Residence's Executive ChefJoin Homewood Health, Canada's leading provider of evidence-based mental health and addiction treatmentBe part of a culture grounded in service excellence, integrity, collaboration, and innovationAs an equal opportunity employer, Homewood Health is committed to employment accessibility, diversity, equity and inclusion.
